Hello all. I would like to know if it is legal to trap, nueter and return/release cats in Cumberland County. I have heard that it is illegal to do so. I have also heard that this may not be true at all! Does anyone know or know how to find out.
Is there anyone out there who knows how an individual can raise money to fix a colony of cats. I have read that a non profit group would have to help. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Any info appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Michelle
This is a topic the has been brought up in the past here and eventually dropped as I don't think anyone has a definite answer. I do recall speaking to a woman who works with a vet - he fixes up the strays and she adopts them out. I adopted a kitten from her about three years ago.
I was told that is is illegal to have a trap spay/neuter release program in Cumberland county. Surrounding counties have them, but not Cumberland. I'm not sure why.
If you can find out any more information please post it as there are other members who have been asking the same question.
Thank you very much Kecia. This is just what I am looking for is a place to exchange info. As you said it is brought up and then dropped, I must find out the right answers. I think what I need to do is find out what is really going on here and if it is illegal...... it needs to change!
This is a legal issue and also a financial issue. I need to know how I can legally collect donations for the purpose of spay/neutering the cats I am caring for. I am sure there are generous cat lovers out there if they only knew they could help.
I will post as soon as I find out more.
Thanks,
Michelle
