The Butterfly's
Hi, I'm aB (pronounced Abby) and my masters are Glenda and her Husband "Butterfly" (everyone calls him that). I adopted them in November when I found them at the Cumberland County Animal Shelter after they read the story about me and my siblings in the Fayetteville Observer.
Here's my story: There was a Police Officer who raised black and tan coonhounds (like me except I'm pretty sure not as cute as me) and thought my Mom's litter was not full blooded or something so he buried all 9 of us in a hole with a bucket on top and left us to die. His Daughter saw this, called the police and dug all of us up. 7 of us made it and we and our mother were taken into custody by Animal Control. After appropriate charges were filed against the Police Officer, we came up for adoption. I was the first to be chosen.
Glenda went to look at us all; we were all so sweet, some of us were yappers, but all beautiful and healthy, none the worse for wear. She first picked my Sister, a healthly female, long tail, beautiful markings, and when they went to get her, she yapped and yapped, which made all the others ones yap too, except me. I peeked my nose around the bum of my big Brother and cocked my head at all the noise. Glenda asked, since I was at least 7-10 lbs. smaller than my brothers and sisters, was I one of the litter, and they said yeah, I was the runt.
Glenda put my sister, the yapper back, and asked to see me. I came quietly and then she noticed my lack of a tail. The vet said my mother probably thought it was the embilical cord and chewed it off. Don't bother me none. Gives me character! Well, we bonded right then and there.
The next day she brought her Husband to meet me. As Glenda was talking with one of the employees, Butterfly took me in his arms. I carefully looked at him, barked once and buried my head in his jacket and went to sleep. He was so warm and he smelled good too. Love and bonding in just a few minutes, they were meant to be mine and I was meant to be their's. Before they found me, they had to put down their other two girls in June and decided no animals until they moved into the new house, but, reading our puppy tales in the paper, they just couldn't stand by and not at least try to help us. No, our new house is not built yet, but all of our hearts our complete again, thanks to the little girl with the giant heart, full of compassion, who did the right thing. Thanks for letting me find my great family.

hound). I'll act surprised when he gives it to me tomorrow. Wow, I can't wait for Saturday!!!
You are a true friend to the animals, and if it were not for people like you, we would really be struggling to find volunteers and folks to help with just about everything-you know...We have just revamped our volunteer program.. let me know what you think of it, I am not running it, but would love to hear feedback, good or bad!!
THANK you so very, very much!!!
Check out my page (Kimberly Allison), Aston came from animal control and wound up at FAPS. He is a sweetheart. He was a death row dog, as we call him...so his time was up at AC. He has been a wonderful addition to our family since the passing of my big Rottie Sierra in May and a companion towards my 6 year old Rott. Every day I look at him and it reminds me to keep on doing my volunteer work for FAPS and helping homeless animals..Nice to meet you! I hope to post many more photos soon. I am going to check out your page too!

Wow, Fred is the best!!! (Here he with with my Aunt) He now feels like he's a member of our family and is fitting in very well. We run and play like we've been together forever. Mom took Fred to Southern Pines for the day about a month ago and when he got back he had sitches like me after she took me to my Doctor. He is doing great now and we don't have to worry about adding more animals to the already overpopulation of us. All peoples should take their pets to get fixed and up to date on their shots. We can't take ourselves and we want to stay healthy so - take us to see our Doctors and make sure we follow their advice. My Fred is healthy and happy, just like me.Ok ab, that's enough, be a gracious winner please.
Oh Kay Mom. Thank you to everybody who saw me, loved me, voted for me, and thinks I'm as special as I do.
